I have not used google forms much in my class. The one way I have used them before is an end of the year survey. The last question in the survey was, “what is one piece of advice you would give an incoming 6th grader at the beginning of the school year?” I took all of their responses and made this word cloud One way I could use google forms is to gauge the knowledge of my students before a unit. Using google forms would be a great way to give a pre and post assessment because I can set it to grade the questions for me. Another way I could use it for my practice is for math journals. I could assign students a prompt about how they went about solving a particular problem and then they could write in an essay or short response the steps to solving the problem. One neat idea I read about was getting an add on that would be a way to reward and celebrate success is to give students a google form and if they passed, the add on creates a certificate of achievement that I create. This add on called certifyem might also be great for our schools advisory lessons so students can show their knowledge of the advisory curriculum with their certificates. A way that might work to use google forms for my Touro action research is to use forms as the student feedback section. The google form could walk students through a series of questions prompting them to give specific feedback on other students problem solving recordings and even have them select the vocabulary words they used while recording in the form. This feedback would be sent to me, so I would know if the student did in fact follow instructions (something that needs to be improved from last semester) and the feedback would also be sent to the student whose recording was reviewed by their peer. This would be immediate feedback for the student so they could work on improving their verbalization for their next recording.
